What you Need to Know About Virtual Visits at Family HealthCare

In order to keep our patients and providers safe during the rapidly changing events related to coronavirus (COVID-19), we will be using “virtual visits” to continue seeing our patients at this time.

What can a virtual visit include?
  • Questions related to COVID-19 – including assessment of possible symptoms, recommendations following a known/potential exposure and recommendation regarding testing.
  • Wide variety of acute concerns: Fever, sore throat, cold symptoms, cough, allergies/allergic rhinitis, urinary tract infection, acid reflux, bronchities, rashes, ear pain, sinusitis, conjunctivitis/pink eye, gastroenteritis (acute diarrhea and/or vomiting), constipation, abdominal pain, minor musculoskeletal injuries/overuse injuries.
  • Chronic Disease Management – including those in need of refills of chronic medications (Diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, COPD, high cholesterol, heart disease, anticoagulation management, thyroid disease, erectile dysfunction, tobacco cessation).
  • Mental health concerns: Anxiety, depression, trouble sleeping
  • Contraception/birth control counseling and management
  • Discussion and preventatitve care issues/ healthcare maintenance. (Patients can discuss recommended preventative care with the providers and future arrangements can be made for any indicated lab work, immunizations, screening tests, etc.)
  • Lifestyle medicine – including diabetic education and tobacco cessation counseling.
What should I do if I need to be seen for something that is not on the list above?

We aim to continue providing comprehensive services to our patients at this time of uncertainty, through our virtual visits.

If you need to be seen for something not included above, please evaluate if it is an urgent matter or if it can wait until we can safely resume in-person visits with our patients. If is is urgent, please call the clinic with any questions or concerns.

What can I expect this visit to be like?

A staff member will reach out to you to walk through how to sign in to your virtual visit from the safety of your home.  Once signed in, you will be able to talk with your provider over your home computer or smart phone.

Visits can also be carried out over the phone for individuals without a computer or smart phone.

If this is an urgent medical condition you should contact your physician’s office by phone or go to the hospital. If this is an emergency call 911.
